Professor Henry Jones Sr. takes his family on a world tour, inviting his former tutor Miss Helen Seymour to teach his son Henry Jr., who prefers to be called Indy. Their adventures begin in Cairo, where Indy and Miss Seymour join an archaeological dig led by T.E. Lawrence, a former student of hers. However, the mummy disappears and a priceless headpiece is stolen, giving Indy his first taste of adventure. The family then travels to Tangiers, where Indy befriends a young slave named Omar and gets into trouble by visiting a market with a displayed salted head.
