In the midst of World War Two, Alan Kensington goes missing in action before the Dunkirk evacuation. His brother Charlie, who was originally exempt from conscription due to a heart condition, enlists in the military after D-Day to find him. Charlie's motivation is fueled by letters and drawings Alan sent during his time at war.
