Two pairs of Mormon missionaries from America live in a run-down apartment in Haarlem, Netherlands. The responsible Elder Johnson is the District Leader, while his companion Elder Van Pelt seeks to become the mission president's assistant. Elder Rogers, disillusioned after his previous companion married his girlfriend, is just marking time until his return home. Elder Calhoun, a new and enthusiastic "greenie", arrives from Utah and struggles with the Dutch language.
