Discharged from the U.S. Army in Germany, Harry reluctantly moves to England with his wife, taking up a truck driving job. His boss, Joe Easy, tries to draw him into a smuggling operation, and Harry initially resists, but eventually gives in after being tempted by Joe's mistress, Lynn. Harry leaves his wife for Lynn and gets caught up in a life of crime, making enough money to consider returning to the States with his new lover. However, their plans are derailed when a tragic accident befalls Harry's young son, Butch.
