Two US Army sergeants, Dave and Fixit, return to the States for a three-day leave from their remote Aleutian Islands outpost. Dave, a structural engineer, plans to reconnect with his alma mater, Cal Tech, while Fixit hopes to find a girl to end his two-year abstinence. They meet friends Janet and Cora, and Dave reconnects with Janet, a former campus worker he had a crush on in college. As they fall for each other, they face opposition from Janet's family, who are skeptical of their relationship due to Dave's military status and impending deployment.
