Where the Green Ants Dream background

Where the Green Ants Dream

A geologist from a mining company faces off with local Aboriginal communities, sparking a heated debate over land ownership and indigenous rights as the community fiercely defends their ancestral land.

Lance Hackett, a geologist, is hired by an Australian mining company to map a desert area, but his work is hindered by Aborigines who claim the site is sacred, where green ants dream. If disturbed, it will destroy humanity. The company offers various solutions, including money and revenue shares, but negotiations fail and the dispute reaches a Commonwealth court. Despite obstacles, including a lone survivor speaking an unknown language, the mining company wins legally, but the Aborigines emerge morally victorious.
