The annual Wigstock drag festival in New York City was a 19-year tradition, bringing together the city's gay community to celebrate the end of summer in a vibrant and festive atmosphere.

Lady Bunny and friends staged an impromptu drag show in Tompkins Square Park in 1984, marking the beginning of the annual Wigstock festival, which ran until 2001. After a 20-year hiatus, the festival returned last summer, bringing together legendary queens and new talent for one of the largest drag performances ever.
