A young man named Martial, who had spent time in a mental hospital due to laziness, is sent to inspect one of his mother's supermarkets. He forms an unexpected friendship with the manager, who had embezzled funds from the company. Meanwhile, Martial starts a romantic relationship with Francine, who is in a relationship with Fernand. When Martial disappears, Francine takes a job as a waitress, unaware that the bar owner expects her to provide sexual services to customers. Fernand kills the owner to save Francine, but Martial is the only witness and tells her to flee to avoid prison.
