World War II saw women fill vacant jobs as men fought abroad. Baseball owners formed teams with women to keep the sport alive, sending scouts nationwide to find talented players. One scout discovered Dottie Hinson, an incredible athlete, and her sister Kit in Oregon. The sisters were recruited, with Kit agreeing to join only if her sister came along. They were chosen for the same team, managed by former player Jimmy Dugan, who struggled to take the job seriously. As the team struggled to attract attention, Dottie's star began to rise, leaving Kit feeling overshadowed.
