Ascension Day background

Ascension Day

Nat Turner, a slave in 1831 Virginia, leads a brutal uprising against his oppressors.

The film is inspired by the phrase in the US Constitution that valued each enslaved black man as three-fifths of a person for Congressional representation purposes. The story revolves around Nat Turner, who led the most successful slave rebellion in history, only to be brutally killed along with many other enslaved individuals.
