Behind the Mask

A surgeon's professional reputation is put at risk when he assumes responsibility for his colleague's fatal error, motivated by a sense of responsibility and a desire to safeguard his colleague's future.

Philip Selwood, a newly qualified surgeon, starts his job as registrar at a teaching hospital under his soon-to-be father-in-law, Sir Arthur Benson-Gray. However, Sir Arthur asks Philip to keep his engagement to Pamela Benson-Gray a secret to avoid appearing to have gotten the job through nepotism. Meanwhile, Carl Romek, a native Pole with an Eastern European accent, gets the job as an anesthetist despite being passed over for other positions. Philip's humanistic approach to patients shines, but Carl's unknown past may affect his work. Philip's efforts to help Carl risk his own position and relationships with the Benson-Grays.
