Lolita Moreno, raised by the Sisters and Father Vallejo, leaves the Mission San Juan Capistrano to teach school on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona. She meets Navo White Eagle, who returns from Carlisle and plans to restore the reservation through irrigation and citrus groves.
