In the 21st Century, Kate and her actor brother reside in New York City. Her ex-boyfriend, Stuart, discovers a temporal gap near the Brooklyn Bridge and travels back to the 19th Century, capturing images with his miniature camera. Leopold, a man from the 1870s, is perplexed by the camera and follows Stuart back through the gap, arriving in the present day.
