La Cucaracha background

La Cucaracha

A writer's life spirals into a deadly nightmare when the Mexican mafia demands he participate in a high-stakes game of survival, where the ultimate prize is his own life.

A struggling American writer, recently relocated to a small Mexican village, finds himself lost and penniless. He spends his days drinking and nights trying to write, but with no idea how to succeed. A shady epitaph writer introduces himself and offers Walter a lucrative job: to kill a powerful local man who committed a crime against his boss. Despite reservations, Walter accepts the offer, hoping the money will allow him to elope with the local girl he's secretly in love with. However, the assassination attempt goes awry, and Walter is left for dead. He survives, but is now a cripple, and sets out to exact revenge.
