Riko, a cured meats factory worker, is stuck in a rut, feeling unfulfilled in his job and struggling with his marriage to Sarah. A head injury during a protest leads to a change of heart, and he decides to remarry Sarah. However, their new beginning is short-lived as Sarah confesses to cheating on him with his best friend, Carnevale, who then takes his own life. Riko is fired and spirals into depression, considering suicide, but finds the strength to start anew with the help of his son, Pietro.
