In 1798, a charming Kentucky trapper named Bushrod Gentry travels from place to place, often leaving a trail of broken hearts among the unmarried young daughters of settler families. However, after being saved from an Indian attack by a Scottish woman named Mary Stuart Cherne, Bushrod finds himself stuck with her family until his injured arm heals. As usual, he's asked to marry, but Mary Stuart refuses to give up, leading to a series of hilarious events, including lies, fist fights, and a shotgun wedding.
