Somen, a wealthy lawyer, falls in love with Kajri, a village belle from a lower caste, during the Dassera fest. Despite his family's disapproval, Somen leaves home to search for Kajri, who has disappeared. A year later, he returns home, but still unable to find her. When his father insists he marry Kedar's daughter, Somen leaves home to stay with his uncle, where he reunites with Kajri. They rekindle their romance, and Somen convinces his mother to approve of Kajri.
