Two workers discover a hidden chamber beneath Paris's Saint Jean André Church, only to be attacked by a creature. Meanwhile, discredited Professor Jack Randall, an expert on Gargoyles, is encouraged to investigate the site. He and his friend Carol sneak in at night, but Jack's camera is broken when he flees from a winged monster. The next day, Carol is brutally murdered, and Jack becomes the prime suspect.
