A young woman, Natalie, is focused on studying and completing an essay to meet the president while her father is away. She lets her childhood friend, Jeffrey, stay with her after he's having issues with his stepfather, Jeremy, who is a bully. However, their living arrangement is soon filled with trouble and misunderstandings. Meanwhile, Natalie's best friend, Polly, becomes obsessed with dating a pro baseball player, Zoo, and starts to intrude on Natalie's personal life, making hasty assumptions and considering a trip to New York to be with him.
