As Cherry Douglas returns home from foster care, she's brutally attacked by her ex-boyfriend, forcing her to take back control of her life and discover her true strength. Despite seeking guidance from a psychologist, minister, and school teachers, she finds their answers unfulfilling. Feeling lost and helpless, she turns to the blind man who helped her in her time of need, and joins her friends in martial arts classes to build her confidence. Under the spiritual guidance of the reverend and her martial arts instructor, Cherry begins to see her relationships for what they truly are and learns to let go of those that hold her back. She finds her path to college, embracing love, loyalty, and a newfound sense of self.
