In December 1916, Indiana Jones, now Captain, is tasked with retrieving a shipment of weaponry in the African jungle alongside Remy and Major Boucher. However, their mission takes an unexpected turn when they stumble upon a disease-ridden village, and Indy's Sgt. Barthelemy decides to rescue the sole surviving child against orders. As they make their way back, the group falls ill and is eventually taken in by Albert Schweitzer and his team at a jungle hospital. Initially wary of being treated by a German, Indy comes to understand Schweitzer's true motives: to heal people despite the odds, rather than fighting in the war.
