Nevada Jack McKenzie, a lone rider, enters the town of Blackwell, only to find that Sheriff Ben and town banker Ward are leading a gang of thieves. The arrival of U.S. Marshal Sandy Hopkins coincides with the murder of Marshal Bill Barstow and the capture of his son Tom, accused of a crime committed by the gang. Nevada frees Tom and hides him in a local cafe, where he is being harbored by the cafe owner, Clem Martin, and his daughter Ruth, who is also Tom's sweetheart.
