In the picturesque Swiss village of Kurtal, nestled at the base of the infamous Citadel mountain, a new generation of adventurers is about to emerge. Rudi Matt, the 18-year-old son of a renowned mountain guide, has grown up with a passion for climbing and a desire to follow in his father's footsteps. Despite his family's disapproval, Rudi secretly sneaks out to climb smaller peaks and trains with his uncle, a professional guide. When a stranded foreign tourist, Capt. John Winter, falls into a crevasse, Rudi saves his life and earns the respect of the seasoned climber. Inspired by his father's legend and the Captain's words of encouragement, Rudi sets out to find the secret path to the summit of the Citadel, a mountain that has claimed many lives, including his father's.
