Where the Lilies Bloom

The story follows the Luther family, who live in the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina. After the death of their mother, the children, Devola, Mary Call, Romey, and Ima Dean, have been living in poverty and sharingcrop on land they believe was stolen from their family. As their father, Roy Luther, is nearing death due to poor health, he instructs Mary Call, the practical one, to take over his role in the family after he's gone.
