Witchhammer

In 17th century Europe, a beggar named Maryna Schuchová conceals the Holy Host in her scarf after Communion, intending to give it to a midwife to heal her ailing cow. However, the parish priest Schmidt accuses her of witchcraft and convinces the Countess De Galle to summon the inquisitor Boblig, who uses torture and intimidation to extract false confessions from the women, including lies he fabricated for the inquisition.
