A young man named Charlie, living in a vacant lot, struggles to find employment, only to discover that the jobs have been taken. He rescues a stray dog named Scraps from an attack, and together they steal sausages from a lunch wagon. They enter a dance hall where Edna, a singer, is mistreated by the clientele. After being thrown out, they find a wallet filled with money, which they use to help Edna, who has been fired from her job. In the end, Charlie, Edna, and Scraps live happily together.
