King Shahdov, a monarch forced into exile by a revolution, arrives in New York with limited finances. He turns to television commercials to make ends meet, only to be mistaken for a communist by authorities after befriending a child from a communist family. Shahdov must then face the scrutiny of a McCarthy-era hearing.
