A charismatic TV personality from Kazakhstan arrives in the United States, ostensibly to promote his country's supposed superiority, but secretly plots to win the heart of a glamorous Hollywood star.

Borat Sagdiyev, a Kazakh journalist, is sent to America to document its culture and society. He takes a course in New York City to understand American humor, but becomes obsessed with Pamela Anderson after watching Baywatch. Borat embarks on a road trip to California to make her his wife and take her back to Kazakhstan, encountering a variety of quirky Americans and chaotic situations along the way.
