Alden Rockwell, a tough and seasoned Marine vet, is forced into retirement after losing his bid for re-election as sheriff of Maksville County. He's struggling to cope with the loss of his wife and the transition to civilian life. His friend, Sheriff Clint Thorne, who was re-elected in neighboring York County, gets close to the truth while investigating a mysterious symbol, and Alden feels compelled to look into the shooting. As he digs deeper, he uncovers a web of crime, deceit, and corruption threatening the town, and he becomes determined to find justice for his friend and restore order to the community.
