In 1892 London, the Doctor remains disheartened by the loss of his companions, showing little interest in the world's events, even after discovering sentient snow and malevolent snowmen. His life takes a turn when he meets Clara, a barmaid and governess, who is also caring for Captain Latimer's children. Together, they battle Dr. Simeon, who has a dark history with the snowmen. The Doctor is stunned to learn that he has encountered Clara before and will likely meet her again in the future.
