On a stormy night, serial killer Jonathan Chambers is executed, but his corpse is transported to a hospital for autopsy. Meanwhile, outcast student Sara Wexler attempts suicide and is hit by the sheriff's car. As she's taken to the hospital in the same ambulance, she witnesses the dead coming back to life. Sara shares a room with her schoolmate Walter, who's been stabbed, and asks for his help to escape. Despite initial skepticism, Walter helps Sara flee their room, only to find themselves trapped in the hospital with the resurrected dead and a psychopath on the hunt for Sara.
