Years later, Jack reunites with Nikki, who is now divorced, and spends the summer with her family on their mega-yacht. Despite being humiliated by the Pines, Jack discovers strange facts about the family and becomes suspicious of their activities. He starts documenting his findings in a secret journal, gathering evidence through eavesdropping and interrogating the yacht's crew.
