A group of survivors, led by a diplomat, are stranded in the Tibetan mountains after a plane crash and find refuge in the mystical Shangri-La monastery, where they must decide whether to stay and uncover its secrets or risk everything to return to the outside world.

A British diplomat and a few civilians crash land in the Himalayas and are taken in by the people of a hidden valley called Shangri-la. This tranquil oasis, shielded from the turmoil of World War II, offers Conway a haven from the world's troubles.
