In a suburban neighborhood, a 13-year-old boy named DJ becomes fascinated with his reclusive neighbor, Nebbercracker, who has a peculiar habit of destroying tricycles that trespass his lawn. When DJ's parents leave him in the care of a babysitter, he and his friend Chowder try to play basketball, but things take a turn when the ball lands in Nebbercracker's yard, causing the old man to have a heart attack. As the boys explore the eerie house, they discover it's actually a monster.
