In eastern Pennsylvania, a doomsday believer named Marcus prepares his family and followers for the apocalypse. When a radioactive meteor hits, Marcus is left outside, while his children and followers escape to a bunker. Ten years later, the bunker's solar panels must be repaired, and a team, including Marcus's children, ventures outside to find a desolate wasteland. They soon discover that radioactivity has turned some survivors into killer mutants, with varying levels of mutation. With unexpected help from a preacher, they learn of a sanctuary called Haven, where they can survive outside the bunker.
