Barb and Johnny attend their aunt's funeral in the countryside, but arrive late and head straight to the cemetery, only to find it deserted. As they soon discover, the peaceful atmosphere is short-lived as they're ambushed by a horde of zombies. Johnny flees in his car, leaving Barb behind, but she's rescued by Ben, a college student and drug dealer, who whisks her away on his motorcycle. They seek refuge at the Cooper farm, where they're met with hostility by patriarch Henry Cooper. As the farmhouse is besieged by the undead, local mortician Gerald Tovar Jr. arrives and regales them with a chilling tale about the origins of the zombie outbreak.
