Josie Wilder, an executive at a New York marketing company, is tasked with caring for her niece and nephew after her sister and brother-in-law's sudden death. Despite being a city girl, Josie must navigate her new role as a parent while dealing with her own grief and the resentment of her brother, who has always felt she abandoned their hometown. As she tries to figure out why her sister chose her to care for the children, Josie must also contend with her own complicated feelings and the challenges of raising teenagers in a small town.
