In the midst of the 1968 Parisian uprising, a poet's twin children, Theo and Isabelle, indulge in a life of luxury and hedonism. They meet a conservative American student, Matthew, and introduce him to a world of sensual excess, ultimately losing their innocence and challenging their relationships.
