The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

A man named Arthur Dent has a catastrophic morning, waking up late, stubbing his toe, and burning the toast. However, his troubles escalate when he discovers his friend is an alien with knowledge of Earth's impending destruction. He's whisked away just before the planet's destruction to make way for a hyperspace motorway, amidst chaos, including being pursued by the Police, encountering a bizarre electronic encyclopedia, and searching for the meaning of life.
