In the midst of Cambodia's devastating civil war, a New York Times journalist, Sydney Schanberg, and his local counterpart, Dith Pran, bear witness to the war's brutal horrors. As the American forces retreat, Pran's family flees with them, but he remains behind, risking his life to aid Schanberg's reporting.
