Two identical 13-year-old twins, Sharon and Susan, meet at summer camp and initially clash due to their vastly different personalities. However, after being placed in solitary confinement, they discover they are long-lost sisters separated at birth after their parents divorced. The twins decide to switch places, with Sharon going to California and Susan to Boston, to get to know and ultimately love the parent they never met.
