The Son-Daughter

Chinese immigrants in San Francisco secretly smuggle arms into China to aid rebels fighting against the centuries-long Manchurian imperial government.

A group of Chinese immigrants in San Francisco secretly fund the rebels fighting against the Manchurian imperial regime. Among them is Dr. Dong Tong, who supports the cause and wants his daughter Lien Wha to marry Tom Lee, a poor university student. However, the rebels need $100,000 for their next arms shipment and are asking four men with eligible daughters to donate $25,000 each, which they plan to raise by selling their daughters into marriage. Dr. Tong's daughter Lien Wha is one of the daughters to be sold, and his decision threatens not only Tom and Lien Wha's marriage plans but also the arms shipment and their lives.
