Moses, an infant Hebrew male, is spared from Pharaoh Rameses I's edict by being set adrift on the Nile and adopted by the pharaoh's daughter Bithiah. He grows up in the Egyptian court, gaining favor with Pharaoh Sethi and the love of Princess Nefretiri, while earning the hatred of Sethi's son, Rameses II. After his Hebrew heritage is revealed, Moses is cast out of Egypt and makes his way across the desert, where he marries, has a son, and is commanded by God to return to Egypt to free the Hebrews from slavery.
