Wesley background

Wesley

A zealous Oxford professor, John Wesley, embarks on a perilous journey to the Georgia colony in 1732, seeking to spread Christianity to Native American tribes, but his voyage takes a treacherous turn when a devastating storm hits his ship.

In 1732, John Wesley, a self-righteous instructor, travels to Georgia to preach to the Indians, but his voyage is disrupted by a violent storm, causing him to question his faith. In Georgia, he falls in love with Sophy, but his romantic plans fail, and he is arrested for refusing to serve Holy Communion to her. Defeated and ashamed, he returns to England, where he meets a Moravian missionary who helps him find peace and a new sense of purpose. Wesley begins preaching about his experience of saving faith, but is rejected by most churches, leading him to preach in fields and connect with the poor and downtrodden. He and his brother Charles establish social ministries to help the poor, despite opposition and violence, and their movement transforms England, inspiring millions worldwide.
