In April 1975, Beirut is torn apart by civil war, with the city divided along Muslim-Christian lines. Tarek, a high school student, captures the chaos on Super 8 film with his friend Omar. Initially, the war seems exciting, with school closed and the violence thrilling. However, his mother wants to leave, while his father refuses. As Tarek spends time with May, a Christian orphan living in his building, he begins to experience the harsh realities of war.
