After completing his studies in Film Editing at the renowned "Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia", also known as the National Film School, Piva went on to win the prestigious Solinas Award for Best Screenplay in both 1992 and 1993.
Throughout his illustrious career, Piva has directed and edited numerous documentary films in various regions around the world, including Italy, Africa, South America, South-East Asia, and the Middle-East.
