Channing Tatum, a dynamic individual, was born in the quaint town of Cullman, Alabama, situated approximately 50 miles north of Birmingham. He is the offspring of Kay (Faust),an airline worker, and Glenn Matthew Tatum, a construction professional. As a youth, Tatum was overflowing with energy and, at times, a bit of a troublemaker, prompting his parents to enroll him in various sports, including track and field, baseball, soccer, and football, in an effort to channel his excess energy into more productive outlets. This decision proved to be a wise one, as Tatum discovered his passion for football and began to focus on earning an athletic college scholarship.
In his ninth grade year, Tatum was sent to a Catholic school, where he further developed his passion for football and his aspirations became centered on securing an athletic college scholarship. His dedication and hard work ultimately paid off, as he was recruited and awarded a full athletic college scholarship to a prestigious institution in West Virginia during his senior year of high school.
Beyond his athletic pursuits, Tatum is also skilled in the ancient art of Kung Fu and Gor-Chor Kung Fu, a unique form of martial arts, in which he has earned various belts. After leaving college, Tatum embarked on a diverse career path, working as a construction worker, stripper, mortgage broker, and salesman. He has also modeled for several prominent brands, including Abercrombie & Fitch, Nautica, Gap, Aeropostale, Emporio Armani, and has appeared in numerous television commercials for American Eagle, Pepsi, and Mountain Dew.
Tatum's acting career has been marked by notable performances in films such as Coach Carter (2005),in which he played the role of a high school basketball player, and his recurring role as Bob Davenport in the popular television series CSI: Miami (2002).
