Alexander Lo, a renowned figure in the world of martial arts and film, first made a name for himself by winning the Taiwan 1978 Tae Kwan do championship.
His entry into the movie industry was facilitated by his older brother Tong Lung, who introduced him to director Robert Tai, with whom he would go on to collaborate on numerous occasions.
Lo's early work in the film industry primarily focused on ninja-themed movies, including Wu Tang vs. Ninja (1987),The Super Ninja (1984),Ninja vs. Shaolin (1983),Ninja Condor 13 (1987),and Hong men jue e zhe (1985).
In addition to his work on ninja films, Lo also appeared in a number of Shaolin-themed movies, such as Shao Lin tong zi gong (1981) and the highly acclaimed Shaolin vs. Lama (1983).
One of Lo's most notable collaborations with Robert Tai was on the nine-hour epic film Ninja the Final Duel (1986),which was released in 1984.
After this project, Lo decided to retire from acting, but continued to work in the film industry as an action choreographer, partnering with Robert Tai on films such as Fist of Legends 2: Iron Bodyguards (1996).
Lo's work as an action choreographer often involved collaborations with his friend, the African-American kick-boxer Eugene Thomas (Trammell),with whom he would frequently team up as a black/Asian duo or face off against each other as arch enemies.
