Born in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, Alicia Larter began her career as a model at the age of 13, traveling the world before moving to Los Angeles to pursue her passion for acting. Her early work included a role on the television series Chicago Sons in 1997.
She gained widespread recognition for her role in the high school football drama Varsity Blues in 1999, particularly for her iconic whipped cream bikini scene. This success was followed by roles in the horror films House on Haunted Hill in 1999 and Final Destination in 2000, solidifying her position as a rising star in the film industry.
Alicia Larter's subsequent roles included the Western comedy American Outlaws in 2001, in which she starred alongside Colin Farrell, and the comedy Legally Blonde in 2001, alongside Reese Witherspoon.

Additionally, Larter appeared in the direct-to-DVD comedy Homo Erectus in 2007, co-starring Hayes MacArthur, whom she became engaged to marry in December 2007. The couple married in a small ceremony in Maine in 2009, among the guests was her close friend Amy Smart.
In 2009, Larter starred alongside Beyoncé and Idris Elba in the thriller Obsessed, which opened at number one at the box office but received negative reviews. She also reprised her role as Claire Redfield in Resident Evil: Afterlife in 2010 and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter in 2016, both directed by Paul W.S. Anderson.
