Alicia von Rittberg was born on December 10, 1993, in Munich, Germany. She made her acting debut at the tender age of six in the popular TV-show "Dingsda," where small children explained everyday concepts. However, it wasn't until a few years later that her real acting career began. In 2006, she appeared in the crime series "The Old One," followed by supporting roles in the TV games "Die Lawine" (2007) and "Die Sache mit dem Glück" (2008).
Von Rittberg gained wider recognition through the seven-part film series "Meine wunderbare Familie" (2008),where she played the 13-year-old daughter of the main character. She then went on to star in the film biography "Romy" (2009),playing Romy Schneider in her teenage years. Shortly after, she appeared in "No Sky Over Whales" (2009) as the daughter of Veronica Ferres' main character.
Von Rittberg continued to take on various supporting roles in films such as "Eine ganz heiße Nummer" (2011),"A Deal with Adele" (2012),and "Barbara" (2012),a GDR drama directed by Christian Petzold. She received critical acclaim for her performance in the drama "Und alle haben geschwiegen" (2012),playing a humiliated Heimkind, and was awarded the Günter Rohrbach Film Prize and the Young Talent Award at the Bavarian Television Prize for her work.
In 2013, von Rittberg starred in the TV play "The Lost Daughter," a drama about a woman who is suddenly reunited with her daughter after 16 years of separation. She also appeared in the family history ensemble "On the Road with Elsa" (2014) and the historical thriller "The Midwife" (2014),earning her the New Faces Award for Best Newcomer Actress.
Von Rittberg's international breakthrough came with her role in the American World War II film "Fury" (2014),starring Brad Pitt, where she played a young German woman who must host an American tank crew. She also appeared in the romantic comedy "Das Romeo-Prinzip" (2015),playing a shy student.
In 2017, von Rittberg starred in the acclaimed mini-series "Charité," playing a combative and ambitious nurse, and appeared in the miniseries "Genius," a biographical drama about Albert Einstein, where she played Anna Winteler, the daughter of the scientist Jost Winteler. She also starred in the dystopian future drama "Godless Youth" (2017),an adaptation of Ödön von Horvath's novel of the same name.
In addition to her acting career, von Rittberg is a student of economics in Friedrichshafen.
